BRIARWOOD

Dating from 2001, Briarwood was one of the first Executive Golf Trail courses to be built in Marion County. Constructed on rolling land that is world famous as thoroughbred horse country, Briarwood is picture postcard pretry and poses a serious but fun challenge to novice golfers. Bring your woods and long irons, especially from the back tees, because on several holes you'll have to carry the ball over wetlands or water features to land on large, sloping greens. Putting on these uneven surfaces is a test you'll enjoy - or at least learn to respect, The ninth hole, at 206 yards, is one of the roughest par 3s in The Villages - with numerous bunkers guarding the green and waiting to swallow errant shots. A par 27 course with a front tee yardage of just 950 yards and rear tee yardage of 1461. Briarwood offers an enjoyable and challenging golf experience.
